We invite you to watch remarkable images provided by the webcam overlooking Gwanghwamun Square from Seoul.
Seoul is the Capital City of South Korea, the biggest city in the country, and the second biggest metropolis in the world, having a population over 25 milions people. It is situated in the northwest of the country and is roughly bisected into northern and southern halves by the Han River.
Gwanghwamun Square construction was started in May 27, 2008, and finished in August 2009. It is located in the middle of Sejong-ro, which makes the connection between Cheonggye Square and Gwanghwamnun Gate.
The square get six sections: Recovering the history of Gwanghwamun Gate Plaza; Reenacting Yukjo Street Plaza; Korea Main Plaza; Civil Participation Urban Culture Plaza; Downtown Plaza; Cheonggyecheon Stream Connector. There are several landmarks such as: The Statue of King Sejong the Great, The Statue of Admiral Yi Sun-Shi, a statue of Haetae( a mythical unicorn-lion that is said to protect palaces from fire), an amazing fountain water screen that projects Hangeul, the Korean alphabet, etc.
Seoul get both historical and modern architecture, with many imposing buildings, having a perfect contrast between old and postmodern urbanism, meeting from medieval castles and palaces ( Gyeongbokgung, Deoksugung , The Castle Walls of Seoul, etc ) to modern structures (Korea Finance Building, Seoul Star Tower, Tower Palace, etc).
