Rokytnice nad Jizerou (German: Rochlitz an der Iser) is a mountain resort in the west part of the Giant Mountains in the Czech Republic. The town is located in the Liberec region, in the Semily District, in elongated valleys of Huťský stream between mountains massifs Stráž (782 m), Čertova hora (1022 m) and Lysá hora (1344 m) and along the left (east) bank of the river Jizera.The Giant Mountains ( Czech Krkonoše , Polish Karkonosze ,) is the highest mountain range in the Czech Republic and Silesia,on the border between Poland and Czech Republic.The town was probably founded around 1574.The first inhabitants here lived on the extraction of timber , copper , silver and lead .
The ski area Horní Domky is located on the valley on Bald Mountain (Lysá hora) and is accessed by 2 4-chair lifts and 9 Teller drag lifts. At an altitude of 657-1315 m it offers both the highest mountain station as well as the largest difference in height (658 m) of all ski on the Czech side of the Giant Mountains.
