Pec pod Sněžkou (German: Petzer, Polish: Pec pod Śnieżką) is a small town at the base of the highest Czech mountain Sněžka, in the Krkonoše Mountains. Pec pod Sněžkou is not only known as a starting point to Sněžka, the highest mountain of the Czech Republic, but also as an active mountain centre in winter as well as in summer season.It is one of the most well-known mountain resorts in the Czech Republic.Around the city are located in the Giant Mountains National Park, the highest peak in the Czech Republic: Sněžka (Snow Mountain) 1602 m, Studniční (Brunnenberg) with 1554 m and Luční hora (Meadow mountain) with 1547 m. It was a mining place. The settlement Pec was founded only at the end of the 16th century.
All the facilities mixed with the great accommodation places and with the delicious traditional food make Ski Pec one of the most complex resorts in the country. The ski resort, located two hours of driving from the capital, is easily accessible by car, public transportation or by a free ski bus.Pec pod Sněžkou provides modern chairlift, 10 surface ski lifts with the transport capacity of 9,620 persons per hour, jagged freestyle park, the longest and best-lighted slope for evening skiing, 900 metres long bobsleigh track, a snow tubing ice channel and a number of cross-country skiing routes. It is now included in SkiResort Černá hora - Pec. |
