More about this webcam location
Watch and enjoy live images from the old centre of Perchtoldsdorf.
In the image can be seen the market square with the Fortified Tower. Perchtoldsdorf is a small town in the Mödling District, in the Austrian state of Lower Austria, near Vienna. It has an area of 12.6 km2 and a population of 14,700 inhabitants. It has a beautiful castle built during Babenberg rule.Perchtoldsdorf Castle probably was laid out before the year 1000 , part of a chain of fortifications along the eastern rim of the Vienna Woods.Upon the death of Otto von Perchtoldsdorf in 1286, the control passed to the House of Habsburg. It played a very important role for the defense of the city against the Turkish troops during the Siege of Vienna in 1529.An Ottoman Turkish assault in a second siege in July 1683 destroyed the town and ended in a massacre It is now a popular tourist destination, due to the nearby region of the Vienna Woods, and also for its long history of the wine industry. It is the district's second largest municipality, after the administrative seat Mödling.
